Completes AV Install at Gallup Organization
State-of-the-Art Training Center at Gallup University Showcases BMI Expertise
Lincoln, NE,
September 9, 2004 – Lincoln, Nebraska-based
systems integrator Business Media, Inc. (BMI) recently announced the
completion of the $2.5 million audiovisual installation at Gallup
Organization’s Gallup University
training center. The fifteen room
facility includes four conference rooms, four seminar rooms, an executive
board room and office, two auditoriums, a network operations center, a
dining room, atrium, and a fitness center.
Systems integrator BMI got involved in the project in
December 2002 and won the bid for the project in February 2003. The BMI team, led by project manager Mark
Voutas, worked above and beyond expectation to ensure
that the installation occurred as smoothly as possible. The team received the consultant’s
specifications and created a real-world, working design for the
installation. BMI made decisions on
exact products, system specifications and product requests, and confirmed
the location of the equipment onsite.
The BMI integration team also created extensive line drawings for
the AV system, totaling thirty-two sheets in all.
After three years of planning and construction, the new
facility for the Gallup Organization’s Gallup University (GU) is now
the central hub of activity for the world's foremost provider of strengths
based management consulting and education. “With the new AV system, we
can accommodate the varied needs of a large group. For example, last month there were 150+
people in concurrent meetings using almost every AV capability from
Internet access to multimedia playback and presentations to audio or
videoconferencing, all at the same time,” explained Kristin Schmidt,
multimedia producer for GU.
The backbone for the room-to-room integration is Biamp
Systems’ AudiaFLEX digital audio platform which was designed by lead
systems designer Matt Hodges and his team
at BMI. “The routes are
flexible in nature and permit a nearly endless combination of audio routes
within the facility. Audio can be routed from one room to another for
overflow or routed to the control room for remote monitoring or
recording,” said Hodges.
Audio for video and audio conferencing is also handled on
this digital backbone. BMI installed
eight Clear-One audioconferencing codecs and five Tandberg
videoconferencing codecs that can be routed to any room at GU.
GU’s two auditoriums, Nebraska
and Sand Hills, are both are similar in design and function. For the audio in each auditorium, BMI
called on years of expertise in the AV field and designed a mix-minus
system. BMI delayed the loudspeakers
so that the audio image emanates from a specific location. BMI also specified and installed a
state-of-the-art, flexible AV system in GU’s four seminar rooms. The rooms are divided by three air walls
that can separate to create one large meeting space when necessary.
